I hope you enjoyed your weekend and if you are in Michigan, I hope you enjoyed the weather!

I have officially launched my 30 DAY CHALLENGE!

I do not, I repeat DO NOT like getting up early in the morning to workout! However, I noticed after a long days of work, I like to come home and unwind. I always told myself, “Go to the gym after work”. To my surprise I never did lol.

I will admit, I have changed a lot my eating habits. Now, when I go grocery shopping I pick up more fruits instead of sweets. My biggest down fall in getting the body healthy lifestyle I want is working out. WORKING OUT IS HUGE! Just doing 30 minutes of cardio and strength training a day will help a lot.

Eating right and working out goes hand and hand. Eating right is  80% of weight lossThe other 20% is working out

Don’t cut my head off now, I am not saying you cannot eat any sweets or your favorite fattening meals (I love mashed potatoes, short ribs, and cake!). What I am saying is for you to eat less of it. We are all entitled to a cheat meal every now and then. However, for this 30 day challenge I want you to eat clean!

Eating clean means, eat foods that will provide your body with energy (veggies, fruits, baked meats, water, salmon, etc.). Instead of you taking the elevator at work, take the steps. Instead of you parking next to the door, park far so you can walk. If you have a busy schedule, that is okay. Workout at home! If I cannot make it to the gym I watch a few videos online.

Everyone is different though. Working out at home may be a great thing for some people to do, and others may prefer to go to the gym. Whichever you prefer, just GET MOVING!

Here is some workout videos you can do from home:

I must say, I have done several of her videos, and you definitely feel the burn!

Today, I went to the gym around 6am. I jogged on the treadmill for 10 minutes with no breaks (that was a huge accomplishment for me), I worked on my arms and my abs. HAVING A MADE UP MIND is key to reaching your fitness and health goals. Being determined will get you through the tough times.

The 30 day challenge starts today and ends June 23, 2016.

Women Respect Your Temple

If you’re not familiar with the word temple, temple is meant to reference your body. Your body is one of the most precious things you can and should protect. I’m not quite sure when “twerking” became a trend, maybe it was when Miley Cyrus started twerking at one of those awards a while back. Now every time I go onto social media, all I see is women twerking or revealing their most secret treasures to the world.

I often hear women say:

Why don’t I have a man”?

“All men are dogs”.

“All they want is sex”!

Truth be told, not all men are “dogs” or just want sex. (I have five brothers, I feel like I’ve earned some say so on what men like and how they typically think).

Posting images like these:

It’s okay to love your body, but why degrade yourself to just your assets?

We all have one favorite body feature, but why does the entire world need to see it?

You’re more than just a peace

of meat. It’s no wonder why people believe there are no good men out there. As much as I hate to admit it,  men are not stupid. Men know when how to approach women, and they know which ones they have to approach with respect. If you’re constantly posting images with your most secret treasures showing, then how can you expect to find a good man? How can you expect for people to take you seriously?

I want every woman to know that she doesn’t have to degrade herself or show off her body just to get attention from a man. Please know that the attention you would receive from a man by posting these kinds of images, would not be the kind of attention you want. Who enjoys being called out of there name? Who enjoys being called a hoe or a slut? who enjoys feeling alone after the guy stops calling or messaging you in your inbox?

EVERY woman, no matter the color of their skin or their size is beautiful!

God loves you and wants you to respect your temple! You don’t have to take naked photos or twerk on social media to get men to like you. In all honesty, majority of men want a women who is conservative. They  don’t want a woman who shows her naked behind on the internet. If you take a moment to think about it, if you truly respect and love yourself, then why would you need to prove to anybody that you’re worth their time by showing your boobs or booty? If a man really wants you, all you would have to actually do is show you’re interested by the conversations you have.

I want you to know you’re more than the body parts you have, and it’s time to start showing the world that you have more to offer. It’s time people start respecting their temples. You don’t have to be naked to be liked. Just try having a conversation and getting to know someone for a change.

I want you to look yourself in the mirror and speak these words.

Dreams on Hold

My question to everyone who has or had a dream is, why did you give up or why are you considering giving up?
My first year of college, I had no idea what I wanted to do or who I wanted to be. My favorite saying is, college was both the best time and the most depressing time of my life. It was the best time of my life because, I discovered the real me and what I wanted to do in life. It was the most depressing time of my life because, I had to go through life struggles to find the real me.
At 23 years of age, I still ask myself  why do people put their dreams on hold. Is it because they are afraid of failure, or because it’s too much work? The most successful people have failed at something, heck they may have failed at everything. The goal is not to avoid failure, but to fail and never give up!
I’m not sure what God has for my life, but I’m ready to give it my all and to enjoy the journey! Life is supposed to be filled with surprises, failures, and heartache. That’s how we grow as human beings.
Imagine  a life where you knew the outcome and you never tried to follow your heart, wouldn’t that be a boring life? Don’t you want to say “hey at least I tried?

Life Choices

Life is all about the choices we make. Whether we’re making the right ones, will determine the outcome of our future.  I’m 23 years old, and I can honestly say I’ve made some decisions that has affected my present life.
The biggest mistake I’ve made in my life was staying in Michigan and not leaving the state to attend college. I honestly believe choosing to stay home for school has put me in the mindset of being fearful of change. I’m told change is a great thing and I should embrace it, but I cannot help the part of me that’s afraid of change.
The next biggest mistake I’ve made my entire life was to base my decisions on whom I involved with at the time. I was in a relationship when I went to college 5 years ago, and we broke up my first year in college. I told myself that I wouldn’t make that same mistake again. In 2015, I could’ve moved out of state, but my now ex told me he would end things with me if I left.
I’m currently enrolled to start my masters program in the Fall of this year, and my now excuse is that I’ll leave when I graduate in two years. I’ve come to the conclusion that I make numerous of excuses for not doing the things that are in my heart, because I’m afraid of change. I’m afraid if things change to much, I might be happy with the outcome.
Being truly happy is what scares me, because when you’re truly happy, it’s when you’re vulnerable to disappointments that comes along with it. I’ve convinced myself it’s better to settle for slight happiness, than for full happiness, because you can lose it all. I know that may sound crazy and you may not understand my reasoning behind my thinking. But I can ensure you I’m completely sane.
As I sit here and write this blog, I feel God’s presence asking why don’t I trust him.  To be honest, I don’t have the answer to that at this time. I hope to find the answer to that question when I go on my trip to Miami this week.
So for now, I ask you all this. Why do we settle into a life that doesn’t make us fully happy? Why are we so afraid to experience something new? Is it failure that holds us back or uncertainty? Do we not believe or trust in God when he says he will be with us every step of the way?

Vacation from Life

The last time I blogged, I asked myself why was I afraid of change.
I just got back from Miami yesterday, and I must say that was a well needed vacation! I had the chance to clear my mind and re-evaluate my life and my life choices. It’s something about laying on the beach in the sun that makes everything worth living for exciting and achievable.
I often say that life is short, and we must live it to the fullest according to God’s will for our life. I refuse to believe that God wants us to settle in life and to be miserable.
Did you know about 6.7% of the U.S population age 18 and older suffers from depression? That’s about 14.8 million people.  I’m going to let that simmer in your minds for a moment.
To be honest, I suffered from depression at one point in my life, and I had to leave to Guam to escape my depression. It was my freshmen year in college, and I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I hated the way I looked, felt, and just everything around me.  When I went to Guam for a few months, God saved me. He opened my eyes to whole another world I knew nothing about.
I believe people in America are depressed, because we tend to settle in life. We also deal with the pressure from society to be something that we’re not to prove to people we’re somebody. In reality, if we just embraced our true selves and learned to truly love who God made us to be, we would be a lot happier (that’s my opinion of course, and it’s not to say my way of thinking is right).
While in Miami, I realized that I’m blessed, but I’m not entirely happy with my life. That sounds crazy I know, but let me explain. I’m blessed because, I have a job, a apartment, people who love and care about me, I’m alive, and I’m healthy. While I’m thankful for all that God has blessed me with, I know I’m not living out my full potential and dreams. I realized I was setting in life.
Settling to me is giving up on what’s in your heart and just accepting things for the way that they are, and not challenging yourself to do better. That’s what I’ve done when I got out of college. I know it takes time for my businesses to prosper and you have to start somewhere in life. But there is a difference between starting from the bottom and giving up on yourself. It’s easier to give up and to take the easier route, then to keep pushing through the tough times.
Going away for three days helped me realize that the reason why I’m afraid of change is because I’m afraid to fail. Failure is what holds me back and not knowing what will happen. Not trusting God and taking those steps to make my dreams a reality is actually worse than failing. I’ve failed at numerous of things growing up and it made me into a better person today. But as an adult, I’ve stopped taking chances.
I’m writing this Blog Post today to let everyone know that failure is going to happen. No matter what we try in life we will fail, and that’s okay. With every failure comes success. I was reading one of Joyce Meyers’ books, and she said life is supposed to be an adventure. God intended life to be an adventure and unpredictable. How boring would it be if God showed us every aspect of our life and what was going to happen while we are alive? Isn’t life supposed to be filled with surprises, heartbreak, good and bad times?
I don’t know about you, but I made a promise to myself. I promised myself to never give up on myself and to make my dreams a reality!
I challenge you to evaluate your life, your dreams and goals, and go after it! No matter if someone supports you or not. All you need is Gods’ support and faith. Everything else will fall into place!

Better Version of You

I know we all see numerous of ads talking about how to lose weight, how to get a big booty, how to obtain abs, how to eat healthy, what and what not to wear, and the list goes on.
I’m guilty of trying new diets that promises to give me that slim look that I oh so badly crave. In reality, I put on double the amount of weight. Going to the doctor and being told that I’m between obese and overweight was heartbreaking. Especially when you thought you were doing everything right to lose weight.
I slowly but surely started comparing myself to the people that I seen on TV and social media websites. I even asked God why he made me this way.  One day, I was reading a chapter out of the bible and it talked about how God created all of us differently, and that he didn’t make any mistake when he created us.
I started evaluating my eating habits and the kind of food I put into my body. I also started figuring out that stress causes me to gain a lot of weight, so I had to figure out ways to not stress.  I stopped eating pork and I started eating breakfast in the morning, and more fruits and vegetables. I do a lot of walking when I can and I started detoxing with fruit.
As time went on, I noticed that I was losing weight, and that I would eventually reach my target goal in no time.
The reason I’m writing this post is because, we often compare ourselves to other people. We look a what others have and what they look like, and we talk ourselves into believing that we are less than. When in reality, that’s not true. God made every single living being different for a reason, and we shouldn’t compare ourselves to each other. If losing weight is something we desire, then maybe we should take a look at our eating habits, exercise at least 30 minutes a day, and drink plenty of water.
Sometimes we need to realize DNA plays a huge factor in what we will look like when we lose the weight. Not everyone is designed to be a size two. We need to learn to be happy with the way God created us to be and stop looking at who God created someone else to be. I will admit, it took me a while to be happy with the way I look. But when I read that chapter in the bible, it opened my eyes. I no longer crave to be or look like someone else. I only aspire to be myself!
My challenge to you all is to compliment yourself when you first wake up in the morning and tell yourself you’re going to be a better version of yourself everyday!

Motivational Mood Day

I know the title of my blog may be a tad bit dramatic lol. However, we can all admit most Monday’s are not so pleasant. We have to go back to our jobs from our two day weekend. When in actually, it’s really a one day weekend, because we stay in the house on Sunday to get ready for work on Monday. So we’re really only enjoying Saturday (and that’s if you don’t work the weekends).
I decided to call today motivational mood day, because I’m personally moody every Monday lol. We tend to take a break from work-life on Saturday and Sunday, and when Monday comes around we’re irritated.  I think it’s partly because we didn’t have enough time to enjoy our weekend or we weren’t able to get around to the things that we wanted to take care of.
I’m writing to say, don’t let the funk of Monday’s get you down. This is a new week to set personal goals and to do that thing you didn’t do last week. If your goal is to lose 5 pounds by the end of the month. Start Monday off by eating breakfast, and drinking about a half gallon of water throughout the day. Instead of taking the elevator, take the steps. Take it one day at a time and one step at a time, and you’ll eventually see the 5 pounds come off.
I know I like to set work goals for myself daily. We have surveys that our customers fill out everyday, and I aim to get at least all 5’s on my surveys.  I ask God for knowledge in the morning and how I can improve my skills to assist my customers.
I recommend saying a prayer at the beginning of your week and allow God to help you reach the goals you set. Here is something along the lines I ask God in the morning:  Lord, I would like to first thank you for allowing me to see another day. I know the next day isn’t promised to the next person, and I am grateful to be alive today. You said ask for guidance and when I lack the knowledge you would fill me with all of the tools I need to fulfill my obligations. I ask that you give me the strength and the right words to assist my customers with their concerns. I ask that whatever you have planned for me today, that I fulfill that purpose. In Jesus name, Amen.
That is just something along the lines of how my prayer goes in the morning. I’m here to tell you that whatever you want to accomplish this week or next week, don’t give up! Don’t let anyone tell you cannot do something, because God says other wise. Even if you cannot see the end of the road or the end of the week, just keep going. I promise you hard work pays off.
I’ll leave you with this. Would you rather sit around and make excuses for the reason why you’re not reaching your goals (fitness, health, work, personal goals, etc.) and let life pass you by, or do you want to stop making excuses and go after what God has for you? You only get one life to live, so make it count!

Motivational Monday

Good afternoon everyone!
Today is Monday, and I recently started “Motivational Monday”.  If you’re anything like me, Monday is my chance to start fresh! A new week is like a new beginning for me, and I like to set goals for the entire week and sometimes the entire month.
I cannot remember the name of the song (I can be very forgetful at times), but this one particular verse stuck out to me. “Everybody dies, but not everybody lives”, by Drake. It’s a given fact that everyone is going to die some day, but not everyone lives the life they are given.
I often ask myself, if God gave me three days to live, what would I do with that time. I can ensure you it wouldn’t be working a 9-5. I would spend time with my family and travel. If I wouldn’t settle in life with just going to work when I have three days to live, then why would I settle in life with everyday that God allows me to live?
I’m not going to go on one of my tangents today, but I ask you all this. What are your goals for 2016? What are your long and short term goals for your life? What are you doing to make your dreams and goals a reality? Are you praying and asking God for direction? Are you taking steps our on faith?
I know those are a lot of questions, but it’s something to think about. If you’re like most people, you made an New Years resolution for 2016. And if you’re like most people you stopped going after those things the second week in January. There isn’t a way to know what will happen or how things will turn out. You just have to pray and take action. You have to allow God to be in control of your destination (I can ensure you that his plan is ten times better than ours).
If plan A didn’t workout, that’s okay. There are 25 more letters in the Alphabet. You don’t want to become the person who tells their family and friends “I could’ve been, but I gave up”. I promise you, giving up is way worse than failing!
Don’t give up on your New Years resolution or your dreams (goals) because it’s not going the way that you think it should go. If you keep pushing through the tough times, you’ll soon reap the benefits.
In the words of Marta, never give up. Be confident in what you do. There may be tough times, but the difficulties which you face will make you more determined to achieve your objectives and to win against all the odds.

I graduated high school in the year of 2011. It’s been exactly 5 years since I left high school and all of the emptiness behind. Instead of me doing my typical blog, I wanted to do things differently today. I located one of my poems I wrote in high school and I wanted to share it with you.
I will admit, I was in a dark place in high school. So just bare with the poem.
The sole purpose of my blog is to help people go after their dreams or goals in life, and to get the life God intended them to have.
I decided to do a flashback for today’s blog post.
The After Life
Your move-less body just lays there.
Your cold and for some odd reason you cannot get warm.
You’re watching on the outside as the ones who caused you pain pretend they gave a damn about you.
And the ones who cared the most, just stare with this look.
As if they cannot go on.
You begin to yell, but no one hears you.
As your body is being put into the ground.
And prayers are being said.
Along with all of the goodbyes.
Your soul begins to move on, but gravity won’t let you.
Death isn’t the worst part.
It’s knowing that your loved ones will move on.
What’s the point in dying?
If everything you ever did,
if everyone you ever loved,
if everything you every were,
will be forgotten at the end of the day.
Dying isn’t the worse part.
It’s being forgotten.
Although, I wrote this 5 years ago, I’m no longer afraid of death. When I decided to give my life over to Christ, the fear of death disappeared. I now know when I die, I’ll be going to a much better place.
However, there is something everyone must know. People may forget your name, where you live, your phone number, maybe even what you look like. But people will never forget the way you made them feel and how you impacted their lives. I encourage everyone to make a difference in the world. It’s time to get back to loving and caring about one another, and stop the hatred.
