Is He Right For You?

I know we have all questioned if the man we were interested in or currently with is right for us.

I know I have done so in the past and I have caused myself many headaches trying to figure it all out.

However, don’t stress yourselves out. I have a learned a few things in my lifetime and I have a check list for you to go over.

If this special person gets all the check marks, then he may just be right for you!

Check List Below:

Does he compliment you?

Does he respect your beliefs?

Does he try to change you?

Is he a good listener?

Is he faithful?

Is he ambitious?

Is he a Doer or Dreamer?

Does he take an interest in your hobbies or what you want to do with your life?

Is he a comforter?

Is he supportive?

Is he dependable?

Is he responsible?

Does he make you happy. Like really happy?

Does he pray for you?

Does he motivate you?

Does he accept all of your flaws and you as a person?

Does he share the same common end relationship goal as you?

These are just a few that I thought were very important to look at. Every woman is different and wants different things.

I was reading this one book and the author advised for all women to make a list of the things they wanted and did not want in a man.

I strongly encourage you to do so. Don’t let other people tell you that by doing that, you’re being superficial.

Because you’re not.

You are writing down the qualities and characteristics you want your future boyfriend and or husband to have.

It is nothing wrong with that.

It helps you to visualize what you want and don’t want. In all honesty, you tend to notice very quickly if someone does not meet the traits of what you want.

Let me know how you determine if someone is right for you or not!

Motivational Monday “You Can’t Fake It!”

I got this bomb inspirational quote sent to my email this morning and I want to share it with you today.

The amount of people in the market,

That claim to be something they are not,

Because what they’re reverse engineering is,

“That’s where the money is”.

Is the biggest reason,

so many people lose.

You just can’t fake who you are.

You can’t manufacture it.

You can’t want it.

– Gary Vaynerchuk

This spoke volumes to me and I want to tell you why.

How many times have we said or heard other says “fake it until you make it”?

How many times have we put the amount of money we make or would like to make over are own happiness?

How many times have we put aside what we wanted out of life, because we felt that we should be doing something else?

I am guilty of all of the above.

I have been a victim to doing something I don’t enjoy doing for the money or because of what others told me I should be doing.

I want you to know when you are not true to yourself, you lose sight of your happiness. You begin to fall into this never ending cycle of temporary happiness.

As long as you are making the money or have nice thing… you’re happy.

However, what happens when those things disappear… will you still be happy?

Will you still enjoy your job?

I want you all to start living the life that you want. I know it will take some deprogramming and some time, but start today with doing the things that make you happy.

I challenged myself to stay positive and to speak positively this entire week, despite the obstacles I face.

I want to challenge you to do the same.

I’ve Been Waiting For You

I recently was inspired to get back to poetry and this is some of my latest work!

I’ve been waiting for you.

All my life I dreamed of your face,

your touch,

your smell.

I dreamed of how you would look,

how you would act,

how you would laugh,

the things you would like,

or would not like.

I prayed for you.

I prayed you would be the man God had designed for me.

I prayed you would be the man God wanted you to be.

I prayed you would be patient,

I prayed I would be ready for when our paths would cross.

I prayed for God to show me how to love you,

how to be the woman you need,

how to be understanding,

and accepting of your past.

I’ve been waiting for you.

I’ve been waiting for the right moment where we would run into each other.

I’ve been waiting for our eyes to lock,

for our lips to touch,

four our souls to sync.

I’ve been waiting all my life for a man…like…. YOU.

It has been a very long time since I wrote poetry, five whole years to be exact lol.

As stated,  I was recently inspired and I wanted to give it a shot to see if I still had it!

Let me know what you think!

3. Setting goals is the first step in turning the invincible into visible (brainy quotes).

4. Be more than you can imagine (brainy quotes).

5. You have only failed if you have given up. Until then, it’s just learning (brainy quotes).

Say Goodbye to Mr. Bad Habit

I know if you are anything like me, you have a pattern.

Most human beings have a dating pattern and I am here to tell you that we need to kick that bad habit to the side!

I was reading this one post, and it talked about how we tend to date the same kind of people and we date how we see ourselves.

At first, I disagreed with what they were saying. However, after looking over my last relationships, I found some truth to what the post was saying.

We tend to develop patterns and habits (good or bad) over time without knowing it.

No worries though, I am going to give you 3 tips on how to kick Mr. Bad Habit to the curve.

1. Start building yourself up.

When you feel crappy about yourself or you feel that you don’t deserve someone great, you tend to settle for a loser. When you love who you are and you know longer need someone else to define who you are, then you start to date people who have more to offer. Tell yourself that you are beautiful…smart….worth it. Repeat after me, “I AM GORGEOUS. I AM DRIVEN. I AM A GO GETTER.  I AM WORTH IT!

2. Focus on yourself.

This is something I had to learn. It took me a while, but I finally grasped the concept. I always had goal that I put together and by the grace of God, I accomplished all of the goals I set for myself thus far. When you start focusing on yourself and you figure out the kind of woman you want to become, you tend to not settle for anything less. You start to notice your Mr. Bad Habits and you start to put a stop to the pattern.

I have been doing a lot of reading lately, probably more than usual. I have been reading all kinds of books, spiritual, business, history, etc. Within all of the texts I have read, I have been praying and soul searching. I decided on the kind of woman that I want to be in the future and the kind of woman I want to be six months from now.

I no longer wanted to be a woman who needed a man to define them. I no longer wanted to be a woman who let the validation of people make or break them. I no longer wanted to date men who had nothing to offer me. I wanted to be a God fearing woman. I wanted to be a woman who did not need no one to define who they are and what they would achieve in their lifetime. I wanted to be a woman who did not need a man to complete them, because they were already complete in God.  I wanted to be a woman who decided what success meant to them and who went after their dreams. I wanted to be a woman who said what she was going to do and did not care what anyone else had to say about it.

When you take time to really focus on yourself and figure out what you want in life, you no longer deal with men or people who cannot add to your life. You become selfish with you and your time. When you reach that level, Mr. bad habit has no room to stay.

3. Remember to take it day by day.

Nothing! I mean nothing happens over night. Bad habits are just that…bad habits. It takes time to undue and to get rid of our bad habits. However, when you have a made up mind to get rid of them, in time your Mr. Bad Habit will be no more. You have to decide on the kind of person you want to be and you have to decide what you will and will no tolerate. Of course no one is perfect. We are imperfectly flawed. However, you do not need someone in your life who is going to take from you. You need a man that will add to your life. You have to believe that one day, you won’t be dating the same way or loving the same way. Just take it day by day. In the words of Jordan Sparks, ” take it one step at a time”.

Say goodby to Mr. Bad Habit and hello to better matches!

Let me know what you think!

See by the real challenge

The real challenge of growth,

Mentally, emotionally and spiritually,

Comes when you get knocked down.

How you handle it,

That is where the growth takes place

-Les Brown.

I want to know your thoughts about this. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree?

Finish What YOU Start

Finish what YOU start!

I like to believe that God gives us visions and it is up to us to make those visions come to reality. I know I am guilty of starting things and not finishing them.

I had a very bad habit of starting projects and when I did not get the results I wanted, I would quit. I’m here to tell you that, you should NEVER quit what you start, unless God directs you to another path.

I like to believe my bad habit stemmed from when I was younger. I was well involved in numerous of activities (dance, track, violin, softball, etc.). When I no longer wanted to do those things, I would complain to my father and he would let me quit.

Don’t get me wrong here, my father is amazing! He everything a gal could want in a father. However, he helped develop my mindset of quitting. I like to think that he did not want to force me to do things that I no longer wanted to do. But, as a child or a growing teenager, I did not know what was best for me.

It did not dawn on me until probably about a few months ago that my bad habit of not finishing came from when I was younger. I would start things and when it become to hard, I would quit.

At 23, I have officially kicked that bad habit! I put myself into a mindset of a finisher.

Things will be tough. People may or may not support your vision. You may only get three or two people to show up to your event.

But, that does not mean give up!

You keep trying.

You keep praying.

You keep doing events.

Eventually, you will see the results that you want.

Quitting is the easy part. Pushing forward through the difficulties is the hard part.

I want you all to take time over the weekend to write a list. I want you to pray before you write it, and I want you to write down the things you would like to do. Each day, starting Monday, start working that list. Take it day by day. I promise you when you get to the end of your list, you’ll be happy that you finished what was on your list.

Let me know what you want to start. Let me know what challenges are in your way.

Fear means a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.

Fearless means without fear; bold or brave; intrepid.

To become fearless you have to master your fears. You have to strap up your boots and face them head on.

God did not give us the spirit of fear!

In stead  he gave us the conquering spirit.

He gave us the “I can” and “I will” through him spirit.

Here are three tips on how to conquer your fears. If you do these daily, you will see how your fears become a thing in the past.

1. Be bold

Everyone has something they are afraid of. I am not saying fear will not appear in your minds, because it will. I am saying be bold in conquering that fear. As humans we tend to make things bigger in our minds than what they actually are. If you put on your “I will conquer this” attitude, you are placing yourself in the mindset to be bold, and you will crush that fear!

2. Do it afraid

In the words of Joyce Myers, “do it afraid”. If you are afraid to move or to start a new journey in your life. That is okay. You are human, so that is perfectly normal. What you don’t do is let the fear take a hold of you. You pray to God and take those steps. You move or explore your new journey while being afraid. When you take steps out on faith, you are allowing God to do what he has said he was going to do. You also allow yourself to become fearless.

3. Trust in God with all that you do.

Learning to trust God with everything takes time. It does not happen overnight, because we have to shut off our human flesh ego. You know, the I know what is best ego. The I know me better than God knows me ego. If we go to God with all of our fears and trust that he will deliver us from them, and that he will change our mindsets, if we allow him to, we will become fearless. When we realize that God knows what is best for us and wants the best for us, we will conquer our fears a lot much more often.

Doing those three things does take time and it does not happen over night. However, if you try at least one of those things once a day, you will start to see how your mindset changes. You will start to put on the “I can” and “I will” pants and the “I cannot” and “I’m afraid” pants will be a thing in the past!

Let me know what you think! Do you have any other suggestions???

Faith by definition means confidence or trust in a person or thing.

My definition of course, is having confidence in God. Although, we have not seen him, we still have faith that he exists.

My other definition would be believing in God’s word and what it says to be true about my life and the world around me.

We all go though a thing called life, and we have many battles we face on the daily basics. I don’t know what everyone goes through everyday, but I can ensure you if you give everything over to God, you will get though it.

I have been on a spiritual journey lately and I have listed below 4 of my favorite scriptures and why. I hope by reading this post, you will develop faith in God and build the confidence to know that he will bring you out of your situation, whatever that maybe.

  1. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). This is my favorite scripture, because it reminds me through God, I can do All things. Not some, but all. I work full time. I am planing to attend graduate school in the fall, while writing and publishing my second book, and starting a brand. This scripture reminds me to put everything in God’s hands and allow him to work everything out for me. It’s this scripture that gives me the “I can” and “I will” spirit.
  2. Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). This scripture reminds me that no matter how many people may talk against me or wish failure on me, I will bend, I will not fail. Don’t get me wrong here, this does not mean that I will do everything 100% right, because I am human and I will fail at times. This failure speaks to giving up. No matter how hard things get, no matter how much I want to throw in the towel, I will prevail! No matter how many people leave my side, I will always have God. Just saying that scripture over and over actually shifts your mind set to an achiever and not a person who gives up.
  3.   Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened for you (Matthew 7:7). This helps me gain clarification on what I am supposed to be doing or if I am going down the right path. When I feel that God has called me to do something or placed an idea in my mind, I pray and ask him for guidance.
  4. Trust in the lord and do good. Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the lord and he will give you the desire of your heart (Psalm 37:4). I absolutely love this scripture! This just reminds me that if I do things God’s way and stay faithful to his will and his commandants, he will give me everything I desire in my heart!

I have other scriptures that I really like, but these are some of my favorites.  Deciding to fully devote my life over to God was the best decision that I have made in a very long time. It was not an easy thing to do, because I was so accustomed to doing what the world was doing. However, in the mist of me doing that I was depressed and alone. I based every decision off what people thought instead of what God thought. Instead of what I thought.

Having confidence in God and confidence in who he is, and what he has planned for my life, has brought me inner piece.

I’m writing this post today to tell you to have faith.

Have faith in God.

Have faith in his word

Have faith in his plans for your life.

Have faith that he is the omega, Jesus Christ, and our lord and savior.

I can promise you that when you truly try God out, you won’t be disappointed.

Let me know thoughts, comments, and feedback!
