Make It Happen Monday!

Happy Monday guys!!

You all may know yesterday was my first event for this year and I am excited to share with you guys how it went!

First, I would like to say my support system is the bomb lol. I know a few people who do not have support about the things they want to do in life; which is one of the reasons they have a hard time pushing forward when obstacles come their way. So, I do not take it lightly when I am surrounded and motivated by individuals who believe in me and my dreams.

Side Note: You do not need anyone to believe in your dreams. If I had no one, I would be okay. Why? Because I believe in my dreams and I strongly believe I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.

Second, the event was amazing!! To be in a room full of black authors was a dream come true. I knew I was not the only author in the world, but to be surrounded by so many black authors was exciting!

Third, I took a step outside my comfort zone and trusted God and myself. There comes a time in every entrepreneurs life where they have to take steps outside of their comfort zone to build themselves up, and to bring attention to their brand and or product. Engaging and speaking with so many readers and authors was the best part about yesterday. It was the first step I took in the direction to my dream of being a writer and author for a living.

I am writing this not to brag, but to tell you to get out here and MAKE IT HAPPEN! Whatever your dream or goal is, don’t wait for the “right time” because there will never be a right time. Today is the time. SO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

Here are some photos from yesterday 🙂

Take A Leap of Faith

I wrote and self published my first book in 2016. Growing up, my only aspiration/dream was to become a writer and to make living from my writing. I imagined my life would consist of me traveling the world and creating stories for my readers.

Although, my dream in life has not went exactly as I had imagined, I am happy to say I am living my dream. I have currently two books out (working on a third). Both books I believe raise awareness to topics I feel are very important (sexual assault and drunk driving).

I know this is only the beginning and I am looking forward to the journey. I promised myself last year that I would not make any excuses this year. I told myself that I would take chances and face my fears head on.

I am happy to let you all know that I am doing just that.

I have three events I will be selling my books at so far this year. I have the slightest idea how I will do or if people will even like my books. However, I have decided to not focus on the negative and what “could.” Instead, I have decided to focus on the positive and what “cans.”

By living your life in fear or allowing the fear of the unknown to take over, you are not allowing yourself to live out your full potential. You don’t want to get 80 years old and regret the things you did not do.

I am taking steps out on faith this year. I am trusting God every step of the way and I am trusting myself. I am sharing this with you today in hopes that you to will take a step out on faith.

It is better to say I tried it and it did not work out, than to say I was too afraid to because, I did not want to fail.

Dear America

Dear America,

I do not understand why we put so much value into the people on the television, but we undervalue the people who can make the country a better place. Teachers, lawyers, doctors, police officers (good policeman, not the bad apples), military, governors, to name a few; all make a difference in our everyday lives. However, we do not even acknowledge the things they do. We worship Beyoncé for making a political stance, but outcast individuals who decided to not vote in the joke of an election.

If Hilary Clinton was such a great presidential candidate and cared so much about the people within this country, where is she now? Why not fight the good fight on the outside like Bernie Sanders? Why not protest with your fellow sisters?

When will we learn this fight is bigger than race?

When will we learn to support one another and stop belittling one another because we have different view/beliefs?

When will we learn/understand everyone will not agree with your views?

I am not for one second excusing the unjust treatment the people who look like me has endured over the past decades.

I’m nor for one second excusing the unjust police killings, because it is not ethical nor right.

However, that is the way the world operates. I’ve come into understanding that the battle we are fighting is a spiritual battle and it is not against the flesh.

I’m done being a victim to a system that put hypocritical, unrealistic, inhuman beliefs/stereotypes/bondage on people who look like me.

I am black and I am a woman. I’m not allowing “the man” behind the scene to predict my life. I’m am not allowing social media to influence the way I treat people who look different from me.  I will not allow this country to mute me!

I do not look to any celebrity to take or make a change in my life, because I’m doing that already. Instead, I look to my brothers and sisters, governors, teachers, doctors, lawyers, judges, police officers, and senators to make a change. If we stand together on one accord and one mind with the same goal of a better country, then we will accomplish just that.

Now, for all of the beehive or people who are fans of the people on television, I am not for one second upset with Beyoncé or any other celebrity who is taking a stand to make things better. I applaud them for doing their job. All I am saying is we have to fight the good fight as one united.

I am taking a stand today. I stand for justice. I stand for equality. I stand for unity. I do not and will never put my trust into another human being. A person who can die and bleed just as I can has no power over my future and the things I will accomplish. God and God alone is and always will be in control of my life.

It’s time to stop fighting one another and time to come together. I take the pledge to show and love everyone in a time where we only see hate. I take a pledge to help teach and build strong children for tomorrows future leaders. I pledge to keep living and to keep praying for better days.

I hope you will take the pledge with me today!

Cut The Excuse And Make Time!

As I sat and cried about how I had/have so much to accomplish in such little time and how I did not have the time, I opened my email.

Come to my surprise, I found a tad bit of inspiration that helped me to reconsider a few things.

I hope this is as helpful for you a it was for me!

You can never find time.

For anything in your life,
If you’re looking for time,
It’s never going to be found.

You have to create time.

According to me,
True success in your life,
Will be when you can manage your time.

Time management is true success.

When a man has time to do all of the things,
The duties,
The varieties,
The fun,
Whatever it may be,

When you have the time to do everything you want to do in your life,
That’s the day you will be successful.

So you have to create the time.

Hello Friday

Monday was the day you just floated to your daily activities, because you stayed up late Sunday night.

Tuesday is just a blah kinda day, because it is the second day in the week and you really would rather be anywhere than at work.

Wednesday is the day you say hello to your coworkers because, you only have two days left to see them.

Thursday is the day you walk into work with not a care in sight, because tomorrow is payday and the start of a beautiful weekend.

Hello Friday! Now you have time to relax and be irresponsible. Friday is the start of a long 2.5 day (s) break from work.

You can go out on a date…hang with friends…or do nothing. It is your choice! However, whatever you do, please remember to have fun!!!! Let me know what your weekend plans are 🙂

Take Control of You

I have been working out for about 2.5 months now and I have never been more determined then I am now to get back to my normal weight. And I am not talking about the unrealistic size my doctor told me I should be for my height group. I am talking about the weight size I have been my entire life.

For the longest of time I made excuses as to why I could not lose the weight. I allowed depression to take a hold of me and loving the wrong boys did not make anything better. Last year, I decided to take control of my life and to stop making excuses. Currently, I weigh 186.5 pounds and I have lost 6.5 pounds so far!

I am not sharing this with you to make you feel some kind of way about yourself. I am sharing this with you so you can decide to take control of your life. Everyone will not be a size 2 and that is fine. It is about embracing and loving the woman you are. I knew I was over weight because of the way I felt. I got tired of feeling tired all of the time and wanted better for myself.

While working out today, I started smiling. I smiled at the fact that I am become a phenomenal woman who is not afraid to be herself! As I was working out on the elliptical, I promised that I would not give up on myself. I will stay prayed up and I will take chances from here on out.

Working out for me is just not about losing weight. It is about obtaining a healthy lifestyle and releasing the stresses of the world. When or if you decide that you want to lose x amount of pounds, you have to determine your why. Your why will be the very thing that will keep you motivated.

Always remember, when you work hard at something, you will get results!

Share with me some of your weight loss goals. What are some tips you have about having fun while working out?

There is a power in mastery.
And how many people do you know,
Are really committed to mastery today?

Most people dabble on a million things,
They master nothing,
And they wonder why they’re unfulfilled.

‘Cause they’re running for the sugar,
The next thing that feels good,
Instead of getting past what doesn’t feel good,
And getting to where you own something.
~ Tony Robbins ~

Whatever you are passionate about or whatever you want to do, stick to it! If you allow your passions to drive you, you will get the results you crave.

Happy Monday folks! Be blessed 🙂

What Happened To The Love

We are living in a time full of dark days. With everything that is going on in the media, I cannot help but to wonder, what happened to the love?

Have people always been this cruel?

Have people always been this ignorant?

It breaks my heart that we have become so divided as a country. I do not believe people are born to hate, I believe it is something that is taught. And to all of the parents out here teaching their children to hate, shame on you!

So what you have people who look different from you or have a different nationality/religion from you!

Does that mean you treat them less than because you are afraid of something that is different?

Does that mean you make them feel unloved and like something is wrong with them?

Despite who someone is, we still should show them love and compassion. As a woman of God, my duty is not to judge people for their actions, who they are, or what they look like. My job is to love, pray and to show compassion towards people.

It is so easy to display hate, but yet it is difficult to show love, why?

Is it because deep down you really hate yourself or are you just so consumed with your life that you do not care about others?

When we are divided as a country, nothing will go well! We need to come together as one and fight together and not one another. We need to start accepting that not everyone is the same and being okay with that.  We need to learn to not display hate, but instead display love.

Life is already hard enough, so why add to it?

It is 2017 and I would love to get to a point where we come together as a people and learn to work together. I would love for people to not to judge someone or outcast someone because they are different from them.

However, it is 2017 and we have yet to grasp that love is way more powerful than hate. We are still fighting the same fights our ancestors fought long ago.

So my question is, what happened to the love?

The Insecure Me

Have you ever been insecure? And I am not speaking to being insecure in a romantic relationship. I am referring to being insecure in life.

Have you mapped out the perfect plan for your life?

I am guilty of doing so. I will be the first to tell you that life does not go as planned. Life has this way of throwing us curve balls and you either get out of the way or you jump on the wave and ride it until the end.

Insecurities develop from the lack of confidence in oneself. You question yourself on if you are making the right decision(s) or if you are living the correct lifestyle. You often find yourself stuck and you start to develop a daily routine of playing it safe. Never taking chances and never learning to trust yourself is better than believing in yourself and taking steps out on faith.

Being insecure in yourself will leave you living a unfulfilled life.

Learning to fully trust yourself is the best gift you can give yourself. When you fully trust you, you no longer question if you are making the right decision on quitting that job or starting that business. You know in your heart you are making the right decision and you will do everything you can to see it through.

I vowed that things would be different this year.

I vowed to not let my insecurities about the unknown leave me at a stand still.

I vowed to face my fears head on this year.

I vowed to not settle and to make my dreams my reality.

Are you ready to take control of your secret doubts? Are you ready to go after all that life has for you? If so, start today by facing all of your insecurities about yourself and telling them they no longer have any control over you.
